ADHTAPAKA VYBHAVAM (Teachers' Training Workshop) Our School Children Deserve Better Care Early intervention will go a long way in making a child competent to cope with his/her problems in school and at home. Crying for action Exam Phobia, Social Phobias, temper tantrums, abusive language & Violence, generalized anxiety, low grades in studies, various types of addictions (pronography, mobile phones, drugs) child abuse, attention deficits and hyperactivity, adhystment problems at new schools and friends, behaviour problems such as stealing, sucidal ideation, depression are some of the problems affecting our school children Any one of these problems would be reason enough to seek an assessment and the earliest possible intervention. All of them together simply cry out for action. Why early intervention? As in so many other things in life, the sooner you start, the easier it is. Studies have shown that the earlier a child with these disabilities gets started on therapy or education, the better that child will do. And when a child has multiple risk factors speed is even more critical. Early identification of potentially handicapping conditions is the key to early intervention and successful rehabilitation. Why it makes sense? Early intervention just makes sense, The brain is growing rapidly during the early years of a person's life and it is able to adapt and acquire new skills at a rate it will never achieve in later years. Think how easily a child can learn a new language as compared to an adult. Babies and young children are like sponges, absorbing every new things we offer them because that is the nature of growth. Teacher Empowerment Theachers have a responsibility to help their students by an early identification of their problems. Commitment normally develops with awareness of the problems. In the Adhyapaka Vyvhavam: Student's Psychosocial Problems Identification Training Workshop for teachers participants will have input sessions on various problem affecting the children for helping them at schools or taking up referral to Counselling Centres.
